Kluber’s Kids A Home Party: Azer
Thursday, September 24, 2020
Denton, Texas
KLUBER'S KIDS PROGRAM CONTINUES WITH AZER'S "KLUBER'S KIDS AT HOME PARTY"

On select home games throughout the season, Corey and Amanda usually host a child from DFW-area children’s hospitals at Globe Life Field for a dream day at the ballpark. As part of this longstanding program, the child and his or her family and friends will meet Corey and Amanda, watch batting practice on the field, shop at the team shop, enjoy a classic ballpark dinner and stay for the game.

However, this year’s program looks a little bit different due to the MLB’s coronavirus rules. Corey and Amanda have elected to host Kluber’s Kids At-Home Parties instead. The Kluber’s second at-home participant was Azer, who enjoyed the program on Thursday evening!

Azer, a Denton resident, was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and he has been in and out of the hospital since he was baby. CF has brought many challenges of its own, including having multiple surgeries, countless hospital admissions, and many hours of respiratory treatments. Nevertheless, that doesn't stop Azer from doing what he loves: playing baseball.

Azer is an outstanding southpaw pitcher and is passionate about baseball. Even while he is feeling sick, he seems to always be doing something baseball related: pitching in the backyard, asking to play catch with someone, practicing his pitching form. He is even trying to learn to throw right-handed. Azer aspires to be the first Major League pitcher with Cystic Fibrosis.

Azer and his family received an at-home baseball-themed watch party to enjoy the Rangers vs. Astros game on Thursday evening. The watch party was catered by Abuelo's and came complete with a #28 Kluber jersey and a special video message from Corey and Amanda themselves.

In addition, Azer and his family also received Kluber’s Kids t-shirts, Rangers hats, cardboard cutouts at the Globe Life Field, and vouchers for tickets to a Rangers game next season. To top it off, Azer and his family were highlighted as part of the Rangers broadcast during the game.

IMPACT

Corey and Amanda have spent time in children’s hospitals and have seen the impact that having a sick child has on the entire family. They hope to connect with these families to help make the road a little easier through their programming.

NEED

Children with serious and chronic illnesses endure constant difficulties. Limited mobility, regular hospital visits, time away from school, financial instability, and painful physical conditions all work to lessen their quality of life.

WHY?

Since breaking into the Majors in 2011 with the Cleveland Indians, Corey has become one of the league’s most involved players in the community. Corey and Amanda have spent countless hours visiting to children’s hospitals and meeting with many families who have children battling for their lives.

IMPACTING LIVES ONE
FAMILY AT A TIME.

The mission of The Kluber Family Foundation is to impact the lives of families who have seriously ill and chronically ill children, by providing them with daily support through live-improving resources and life-changing experiences.
