2019 in Review: Look What You Helped Us Accomplish

As we enter 2020, we'd like to look back the past year and offer a big THANK YOU to all our donors, supporters and volunteers for everything you have helped us accomplish in the past year! The Kluber Family Foundation was able to touch the lives of 204,170 people in 2019, including children like Grady Schlabach and his family! Please click here to watch their story.

During the year, we continued the longstanding Kluber’s Kids program on game days at Progressive Field. Families from Cleveland Clinic Children’s were invited to attend batting practice on the field, explore the stadium, shop at the team’s pro-shop, dine in the Club Lounge and, of course, enjoy the game from premier seats. We were able to improve the family experience this year by incorporating Team Shop gift cards for each family member while having foundation board members join the families for the game as hosts. A total of ten different families were impacted by Corey and Amanda’s original program this past year.

In June, Corey and Amanda made time to visit UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital to unveil their inaugural Kluber’s Korner. Kluber’s Korner features a pair of mobile tech lockers that house dozens of electronic entertainment devices, such as Chromebook laptops, portable DVD players and Nintendo Switches. The Kluber’s even joined in on the action by playing Mario Kart with the pediatric patients attending the ribbon cutting ceremony!

The second annual Curveball for a Cause, held at the Metropolitan at the 9, highlighted the month of September. Corey was joined by 20 of his teammates for a night that honored the courage of all the children fighting serious illnesses. Together, we raised $186,799 in support of the Kluber Family Foundation and its mission to impact the lives of seriously ill children and their families!

Before the season came to an end, Corey was presented with the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award on the field before a game against the Tigers. The award acknowledges one MLB player each year for outstanding humanitarian efforts. Congratulations to Corey!

We would not have been able to create such meaningful impact here in Cleveland without your continued support of the Kluber Family Foundation. To view photos from this past year, visit our website’s photo gallery or our Facebook albums.

Corey and Amanda have spent time in children’s hospitals and have seen the impact that having a sick child has on the entire family. They hope to connect with these families to help make the road a little easier through their programming.

Children with serious and chronic illnesses endure constant difficulties. Limited mobility, regular hospital visits, time away from school, financial instability, and painful physical conditions all work to lessen their quality of life.

Since breaking into the Majors in 2011 with the Cleveland Indians, Corey has become one of the league’s most involved players in the community. Corey and Amanda have spent countless hours visiting to children’s hospitals and meeting with many families who have children battling for their lives.

The mission of The Kluber Family Foundation is to impact the lives of families who have seriously ill and chronically ill children, by providing them with daily support through live-improving resources and life-changing experiences.
